Behind the Canvas
Weaving Life into Art
Priscilla Purcell is a globally inspired mixed media artist whose work seamlessly weaves together diverse elements such as paint, wax, stitch, and photography, resulting in creations that are deeply evocative, textured, and layered with meaning.
With a strong foundation in Graphic Design and a career that has taken her across major cities around the world, her art pays homage to the delicate beauty of the overlooked and the fleeting significance found in the ephemeral. Each piece invites viewers on a journey to explore a rich and vivid tapestry of experiences, emotions, and boundless imagination, encouraging them to find their own connection to the narratives interwoven within her work.

Like many people working in Mixed Media, Priscilla moved into this field of art from another area of creative work.
During her career as a Graphic Designer, specializing in Corporate Identity and Corporate Communications, she lived and worked in London, Boston, France, Germany, Hong Kong, and New York.
Priscilla draws her inspiration from her personal and professional experiences; travel throughout Asia, Africa and the Americas is reflected in her work, as is the tarot, haiku poetry, asemic writing and the significance of symbol, colour and number in different cultures.

All her work reflects a deep interest in the inner–forces that drive mankind forces that are typically, much more revealing than the outer veneer that most humans use to shield themselves from the eyes of the world.
In addition, she has been involved in Architectural renovation and Interior design in London, Gloucestershire, Yorkshire, Los Angeles and Greenwich, Connecticut. She has also studied paper–making, textiles, and embroidery–traveling to remote areas where paper is made symbiotically alongside textiles and embroidery.
