Unbroken

A collection by Priscilla Purcell that celebrates resilience and the beauty of imperfection. Through intricate embroidery and natural materials, each piece captures the harmony between fragility and strength.

This serie explores resilience and the beauty of imperfection. Through embroidery and natural materials, fragility and strength come together.

THEME: Broken, fractured, damaged, smashed, made whole, mended, repaired, bonded, unbroken, endless, connecting, continuous.

INSPIRATION: Kintsukuroi/Kintsugi – to repair with gold – the Japanese art of repairing pottery with gold and understanding that the piece is more beautiful for having been broken. The idea is that something broken/damaged is made more beautiful by repair. Through Kintsugi the cracks and seams are merely a symbol of an event that happened in the life of the object, rather than the cause of its destruction.

“It is the philosophical concept of Kintsugi that fascinates me – that of something damaged, by the event of being broken, becomes more perfect.” Priscilla Purcell
